Europe Park

Not far from the Centre of Europe is the fascinating Europe Park of outdoor sculptures and modern art. Founded in 1991 by young sculptor Gintaras Karosas, today the park takes up 55 hectares filled with sculptures and installations created by 100 artists from around the world.

The aim of creating the park was to give an artistic interpretation of being at the centre of Europe. The landscape of slopes and towering trees has obviously inspired the artists to create huge projects, many of them immovable from their natural setting, and this gives visitors the pleasure of enjoying art and nature in one place.

Several world-class artists have their work on display here, including Magdalena Abakanovicz, Sol Le Witt, Dennis Oppenheim and Tei Kobayashi. The symbol of the park is a sculpture by Karosas himself, an allegory of the centre of Europe that marks the directions and distances to all the capitals of Europe from this spot.
